I hope everyone has plans for a fun and safe Halloween this year. I've been seeing a lot of pics of very fun, clever and scary costumes so I'm sure that lots of "Trick or Treating" and other good times will be had by all!
It's been a couple of busy weeks since our first newsletter earlier this month. Thanks to everyone for their positive feedback and good wishes. We're still trying to get a handle on what's going on regarding Jon's abdominal condition, so we've been pretty occupied with quite a few doctors appointments. He also had a dental situation arise that required a few trips to the dentist and a molar extraction, so he's been recovering the last several weeks...
Now For Some Great News...
I want to share some great news with the TeamJon supporters. Jon recently completed his intake with the Evergreen Chapter of the ALS Association. This is a fantastic organization that provides a wide variety of much needed support services for those afflicted with ALS and their families.
Just this last week the Evergreen Chapter, working in conjunction with Dependable Medical Equipment of Mountlake Terrace, was able to provide Jon with a loaner power-assisted recliner. A permanent power recliner to replace a standard recliner with a broken back is at the top of Jon's wishlist. This generous act has allowed Jon to spend additional time in the living room enjoying movies and music. As you can see from the picture to the right, he (along with our cat, Tux) is really enjoying the extra comfort. (Although admittedly, Tux and his "sister" Coco, are not too sure about the motorized movement yet...)
Both Jon and I are very grateful to the assistance that the Evergreen Chapter of the ALS Association is able to provide to us and other families dealing with ALS. We encourage everyone to visit this organization's website and thank them for the wonderful work that they do. Also, please keep this group in mind when donating to organizations performing good work. You can visit their website at: www.alsa-ec.org
And Even More Great News...
Since the last newsletter, we have been blessed with several very generous contributions, and we are now closing in on the $2,500 milestone! These contributions have made such a wonderful difference in the quality of Jon's life and our abiity to meet his ongoing medical and other special needs. I wish to give my most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed to the TeamJon campaign.
Again though, I wish to state that, as important as the contributions, is the need to share Jon's story and build his community of supporters. Please help us by sharing this Newsletter with your community of contacts. The link to this Newsletter can be found by clicking for the online version at:
